Joel Lucas, writer-composer, has released his debut album, Early Illusions. Ten tracks that he's had in the pipeline for as long as he's known how to sing and play the guitar. His one-of-a-kind voice draws us into a pop-rock universe where finesse and sensibility meet. Early Illusions sets the tone: youthful illusions are confronted with the reality of the adult world.

The record was written with the desire to capture the energy of the stage in the album. For Joel Lucas, it was essential that it have penetrating melodies and be stripped of artifice. The foregrounding of voice and guitar gives this album a very authentic sound that echoes the personality of its author.

Early Illusions tells us of a utopian love that can survive distance and ease suffering. From the acoustic softness of Sailing, which leads us towards great open spaces, to the sarcastic tones of TV Screen, Joel Lucas explores the entire spectrum of emotions in his songs. We also get a solid dose of empathy in Early Illusions with a number of songs, like Reach or Pain, that are like hands extended towards others in anguish. Despite the farewells and the fear of separation in Valley of Sorrow or Goodbye, the grooving sound remains catchy and the melodies are luminous. The album tells tales of tears and sadness, but also of hopes, quests and ideals. Finally, a whole range of emotions to listen to and share!
